Ayer en Mallacoota amaneció, como estos días de atrás, cubierto y con ganas de llover. Habíamos decidido, a causa de la previsión de mal tiempo, no volar y descansar todo el día. Pero a eso de las 7am nos pareció que la situación no era tan mala como la pintaban, y que si hacíamos 100km hasta Merimbula, nos resultaría más llevadera la jornada final que cerraba el tour.
A las 8:15am estábamos despegando rumbo a Merimbula envueltos en un suave txirimiri.
La cosa pintaba mejor mar adentro, así que casi todo el viaje lo hicimos por encima del mar.
Yesterday in Mallacoota dawned, like past days, cloudy and wanting to rain. We had decided, because of the forecast of bad weather, not to fly and rest all day. But at about 7am it seemed to us that the situation was not as bad as they had announced, so we decided to fly 100km to Merimbula, so the final stage of the tour would be shorter.
At 8:15 a.m. we were taking off for Merimbula wrapped in a soft rain.
The weather was better offshore, so almost the entire flight we did over the sea.
La lluvia, a ratos de intensidad preocupante, nos acompañó durante toda la hora que tardamos en hacer los 100km.
Cuando aterrizamos en Merimbula y nos dirigíamos a la plataforma, se abrieron las puertas de un descomunal hangar y un hombre, el mecánico que se ocupa del mantenimiento de las aeronaves del aeródromo, nos hizo señas para que pusiéramos los autogiros a cubierto.
¡Qué gente tan amable! Vamos de asombro en asombro.
Dejamos los autogiros allí, pagamos las tasas del aeródromo y buscamos alojamiento en el pueblo.
El tiempo fue empeorando durante todo el día terminando con chubascos tormentosos y vientos muy fuertes.
The rain, at times of disturbing intensity, accompanied us during the entire hour we took to do the 100km.
When we landed in Merimbula and headed to the platform, the doors of a huge hangar were opened and a man, the mechanic who takes care of the maintenance of the aerodrome's airplanes, beckoned us to put the autogyros inside.
What kind people! We go from amazement to amazement.
We left the autogyros there, we paid the rates of the aerodrome and we looked for lodging in the town.
The weather worsened throughout the day, ending with stormy showers and very strong winds.

Hoy ha amanecido un día radiante, nada que ver con el de ayer.
A las 8am sacábamos los autogiros del hangar, nos despedíamos muy agradecidos del mecánico del aeródromo y nos dirigíamos a cabecera para despegar. Tuvimos que esperar un poco a causa de vuelos entrantes a esa hora (hay vuelos diarios con Melbourne y Sydney)
Today a bright day has dawned, nothing like yesterday.
At 8am we took the autogiros out of the hangar, we said goodbye very grateful to the mechanic of the aerodrome and we headed to holding point of the runway to take off. We had to wait a bit because of incoming flights at that time (there are daily flights with Melbourne and Sydney)

La primera etapa (300km hasta Wollongong) fue, como la muestra fotográfica enseña, una delicia.
Antes de Wollongong atravesamos una zona militar restringida en la que estuvimos controlados, y tuvimos que seguir los puntos de encaminamiento que por radio nos indicaban. El controlador, cuando abandonamos la zona y dábamos las gracias, dijo: "Adiós".
The first stage (300km to Wollongong) was, as the photographic exhibition shows, a delight.
Before Wollongong we crossed a restricted military zone in which we were controlled, and we had to follow the routing points that we were told by radio. The controller, when we left the area and thanked him, said: "Adiós".

En Wollongong el viento era considerable, pero afortunadamente bien alineado con la pista con lo que el aterrizaje fue muy fácil.
In Wollongong the wind was quite strong, but fortunately well aligned with the runway so the landing was very easy.

En Wollongong salió a recibirnos un piloto de autogiro y estuvimos un rato de animada charla tomando un café.
Hicimos el repostaje y despegamos para cubrir la última etapa del raid.
Ya sólo quedaban 160km para llegar a Somersby.
In Wollongong, a gyrocopter pilot met us and we chatted for a while having a coffee
We did the refueling and took off to cover the last stage of the raid.
There were only 160km left to get to Somersby.

Hacia las 2pm se posaban los autogiros en Somersby de donde salieron el día 27 de septiembre.
Todo el equipo nos hemos felicitado y hemos celebrado haber terminado felizmente este proyecto.
La vuelta a Australia se ha completado.
